Cape Sounio

cruise duration: 9h30 - 19h30 - distance from marina: 20 nautical miles - up to 6 guests

Cape Sounio is noted as the site of ruins of an ancient Greek temple of Poseidon, the god of the sea in classical mythology. The remains are perched on the headland, surrounded on three sides by the sea. According to Greek Mythology, Cape Sounio is the spot where Aegeus, king of Athens, leapt to his death off the cliff, thus giving his name to the Aegean Sea. Little more than the remains of a few columns continue to pay homage to the original venue and rich history. Visiting Cape Sounion by sea is spectacular. Whether you choose to see the sun set into the Aegean from the top of the Cape or to admire the temple in the moonlight from the boat in the evening, the views are bound to be ones you remember.
